Flexible Schedule

Back to School Blues

Going back to school is never fun. You’re probably worried about writing papers, homework, and reading long textbooks. You don’t have to worry because your classes don’t have these. Luckily for you, technology has been making huge advancements in education while you’ve been out of school.

What Can I Expect?

Everything will be online and all of your classes can be completed on a computer, tablet, or cell phone around your busy schedule. Your classes will be free from papers, homework, textbooks, and the majority will all be open book. The exceptions are that you will find papers in Composition 1 and 2, and 1 paper in each of your last 2 classes (these 4 classes do not have tests or finals). If you’re keeping track, 36 of your classes can be completed without papers, and 4 classes have papers.

What About My GPA?

If you’re worried about your GPA, don’t! Only the last two classes will affect your GPA. All of the other classes do NOT affect your GPA. You only need a 70% to earn college credit and they go on your transcript as a P for pass. These are pass/fail classes but a failed class does not show up on your transcript. Last but not least, none of your classes have live sessions to attend!

Students drop out of college because of a lack of money, lack of support, and a lack of flexibility.

Multiple Ways to Earn Credit

The schools we work with have an amazing transfer credit policy. They will accept credits from 10+ years ago, credits from multiple schools, and will give credit for prior learning experience, certifications, licenses, military experience, certificates, and foreign language exams. We want to start this degree plan with as many credits as we can so you get the benefit of your hard work and investment.

Credit for Prior Learning

  • Business & Professional Certifications
  • Criminal Justice Training
  • Health Care Credentials & Certifications
  • Military Trainings
  • Nursing Licenses & Certifications
  • Credit for Exams
  • College & Professional Training
  • Educational & Vocational Programs
  • IT Certifications, Training, & Exams
  • Professional & Workplace Training

Will My Transfer Credits Be Accepted

The average student has completed credits from more than one school. This can cost a student a lot of time and money when the new school will not accept all of their credits. College is a business and they make money when you take classes at their school. This can lead them to denying credits that you have worked hard to complete.

Transcript Evaluation

Schools need official transcripts for evaluation, but we only need your unofficial transcripts to degree plan. If you have credits, you will send the transcripts to support@smarterby1degree.com after booking a strategic degree planning session. We will evaluate your credits and plug them into your custom degree plan. We will then meet with you in Zoom for 1 hour to discuss your goals, your strengths, your weaknesses, your questions, and further customize your degree plan. One of our biggest strengths is thinking outside of the box so we can come up with the best strategy for you.

The Cost of A Degree

College is Expensive

As the cost of college tuition continues to rise, more and more people are looking for an alternative path for earning a college degree. Public university students pay $9,400 per year for a total of $37,600 over 4 years, and the average private university student pays $54,501 per year for a total of $218,000 over 4 years for a bachelor degree. These numbers become even scarier when you consider that only 41% of students graduate in 4 years.

Strategic degree planning can save you over $30,000 on your bachelor’s degree!

Traditional & Non-Traditional Students

We’re going to show you how to get the same bachelor’s degree in 1 year or less and for as low as $6,000! It sounds too good to be true because you’ve always thought about earning your bachelor’s degree as a traditional student at a brick-and-mortar university; but there are other options, better options! Traditional students take 4-6 years to earn a degree, whereas motivated non-traditional students can earn their bachelor’s degree in as little as 6 months.

Non-traditional Learning Has It’s Perks

Alternative College Credits

If you’ve heard of CLEP or AP college credit then you’ve already heard of alternative credits. We’re not going to be taking these exams, but we will be earning alternative credits that are approved by the American Council on Education. ACE has played a major role in shaping higher education in the United States for more than a century. Since its founding in 1918, ACE has spearheaded programs, advocated for legislation, and led initiatives that have shaped the nation’s postsecondary landscape.

Check out our testimonials page to hear from Smarter by 1 Degree students who have degree planned, graduated, and were even accepted into Law School with alternative credits.

The Glass Ceiling

More and more employers are requiring a bachelor’s degree to be considered for a job. If you’ve recently been job searching you might have noticed that they aren’t looking for a specific degree, they just want you to have a degree. You might be wanting a job promotion and you’ve realized that you’ve hit a glass ceiling at your company. Unfortunately, until you have that degree, you’re not moving up. This is where Smarter by 1 Degree can save you A LOT of time and money. We specialize in helping adults earn the quickest, cheapest, and most efficient bachelor’s degree. Don’t worry, it’s the same regionally accredited degree, from a regionally accredited university.

We’ll help you earn your bachelor’s degree for $6,000 in 6-12 months!

School Accreditation

Regional Accreditation

We only work with colleges and universities that are regionally accredited. Regional Accreditation is the type of accreditation most institutions have in America because it is the highest accreditation in the United States. Regional accreditation is considered the most prestigious and widely-recognized type of accreditation.

Regional vs. National Accreditation

When you earn a nationally accredited degree, you can only transfer it to 15% of the colleges in the US. If you graduate with a regionally accredited bachelor degree, from a regionally accredited school, you can transfer it to 100% of the schools in the US. If you decide to further your education for a master’s degree, you will have zero problems.

Regionally Accredited Universities

The schools that we work with have been around for over 50 years and have a great reputation among working adults. They designed their schools, programs, and classes with the working adult in mind. The classes are asynchronous so you can work on them around your schedule and continue a healthy work-life balance while earning your degree. You can decide how to study, when to study, and for how long. You will be able to work on classes from your computer or phone, and focus on learning without homework or busywork. You’ll be earning the same degree with the same accreditation. We only use universities that are found on the US Department of Education official website.

Law School Testimonial

We just finished helping Trinity earn her high school diploma and regionally accredited bachelor’s degree in English at eighteen. She was immediately able to get accepted into the Ivy League, Cornell Law School at 18 years old. Your plan may be to stop at a bachelor’s degree, but you will always have the option for a higher degree if you change your mind.

Do You Have Questions?

Breakdown of a Bachelor Degree

A Bachelor’s Degree Explained

Bachelor degrees require 120 college credits. You will need to take a total of 40 college classes because each class is usually worth 3 credits. The first 20 classes are referred to as general education requirements (gen eds for short). These include classes like English, math, science, history, and gen ed electives like humanities and social science. The next 10-12 classes are your area of study (college major), and then you take electives to finish up the degree. If you are wanting the fastest, easiest bachelor’s degree, then you will take your gen eds and the rest will be electives.

General Education Classes

These classes are very similar to high school classes (think Algebra, Biology, English, US History, etc.). This is one of the reasons why 30% of college students drop out in their first year. It can feel like deja vu because you’re excited to start college, but then you find yourself back in the same classes you just finished in high school. We’ll give you open-book options so you can move through them quickly.

Did Someone Say Algebra?

If you are one of the 40% of college students who are returning back to school as a working adult, general education classes can make you nervous and uneasy. You might be thinking there isn’t a way for me to pass Algebra after being out of school this long.

When we come to the dreaded topic of math while degree planning, most of our clients become silent. We all have anxiety about something, and college math (Algebra) seems to be a common one. Don’t worry, I have a math class that meets your math general education requirement without Algebra or Geometry. That’s right, no Algebra, and no Geometry!! Let me ease your math anxiety and general education nervousness by recommending the best classes for you to take to earn your degree.

Area of Study

The next part of your degree is the area of study (AOS) or major requirements. These can range from 33 to 45 credits on average, or up to 60 credits for a business degree. If the area of study requires 33 credits then you will complete the rest of your credits as electives.

Electives

Electives are classes in any subject so they give us a lot of flexibility. Students are often surprised at how many elective classes are in a degree. We use this to our advantage in our fastest degree so we can save a lot of time and money on classes. If you have 60 credits in your area of study (business degree), you’re only going to have a few electives because of so many required classes. If speed isn’t your main goal, there are a lot of interesting classes that can be taken for elective credit.

Strategy is Everything

Strategic degree planning allows us to pick the best classes for each section, whether they are general education classes, the area of study, or electives. Our strengths are planning, thinking out side of the box, and our experience with helping thousands of students. You will see that strategy plays a huge part in the degree planning process.
